Fox 5 San Diego Viewers Wake-up to Surprise
On Fri., Jan. 29, viewers of the Fox 5 Morning News were greeted by another familiar face at the anchor desk — former KUSI’er and veteran journalist Paul Bloom. Cryptic tweets and Facebook status updates from Fox 5 San Diego staffers alluded to a “surprise” guest host, asking viewers to tune in to the morning show to find out will be on the desk. There have been guest hosts throughout the week, including Mary Murphy from “So You Think You Can Dance” and Loren Nancarrow, filling in for anchor Raoul Martinez, who welcomed a baby girl in late January. He’ll be back soon.
DTOWN Jumps to SanDiego.com
We received wonderful news about sandiegoDTOWN’s move to SanDiego.com. According to founders Ron Donoho and Heather Back, DTOWN is being merged into the “much bigger” SanDiego.com site. Donoho is now hired as editor-in-chief of SanDiego.com as well. Donoho and Back were previously at San Diego Magazine, and took their print experience into the new media world.
The Mikey Show Returns to San Diego Airwaves
We reported a few weeks ago on the startling changes in the San Diego radio landscape, and we’re pleased to report that morning show host Mike Esparza has a new home at KBZT/FM949 San Diego. “The Mikey Show” has a new cast, as the former crew stayed at their home on Granite Ridge.
Esparza visited San Diego 6 to introduce the new cast and talk about the show last week. His new show begins Mon., Feb. 1. Become a Facebook fan and stay in touch at MikeyShow.com.
